Unaccustomed as I am….
I like to write about what I’m up to.
I like to post pictures of my work.
I welcome critical engagement with my work.
I want to connect more and further.
I want people to visit my studio.
Definately time I embraced the blog…
My First Blog
Where does one start? I have a lot I can talk
about…my processes, old works, where I’ve
been and what I’ve done… but for my first blog I
think my new studio and SEOS is the perfect
beginning.
From inital design to finally built it has taken the
best part of 4 years to complete my fantastic
studio at the bottom of the garden. High
ceilings, gallery lighting, huge bifold doors, it is
a place of perfect peace and plenty… the latter
being the vast quantity of artistic paraphenalia
and paperwork I have accumulated over the
past decade and then some. It appears I have
hoarding tendencies - who knew? (Whole
family apparently!) I confess to being a bit
overwhelmed with the moving in but I’m still
busy arting away in preparation for WOKAS
Spring Exhibition and South East Open Studios
in 3 weeks….nearer 2 weeks…aaargh! I am
making prints, drawing portraits (dogs and
people) and painting an oil portrait and a
seascape whilst updating this website, hanging
rails, mounting and framing pictures and then
hanging the same. Phew!
I am the proverbial ‘pig in poo’, couldn’t be
happier!
Here’s a small montage of some of the things
I’ve been doing this last month or so….

Exhibitionist!
Well at great risk of pride before a fall…it’s been a
rewarding couple of weeks. I sold a painting and a few
cards at the Wokas exhibition in Tenterden which was
lovely; and, SEOS 1st week has proved good too,..3 sales
and a commission under my belt. Trumpet blowing aside,
it is affirming to have people like your work enough to
buy. I do it because I am driven and love to create but
ultimately a certain amount of commercial success is
necessary to keep me in pencils and paint! With this in
mind I am very pleased to announce that my website is
now sales capable and I am slowly adding artworks…cards
and prints will follow.
I had a fabulous day yesterday visiting some of my nearby
SEOS artists in Ashford, Tenterden and Biddenden. Sooooo
much talent and a lovely lunch at The Bakehouse in
Biddenden to top it off!
Work wise I am finishing another doggy commission and a
sunset painting. Then it is some printmaking and a bit of clay
work with some friends from Hythe Art Group.
On a less arty note I am also about to get some ‘beople’ back
in the garden. We lost our beehive 2 years ago due to the new
queen not getting established, wasp predation and wax moth.
So upsetting but now we have a new hive and are expecting
the bees any day now. Amazingly they are posted would you
believe…don’t want to lose that parcel! Well, I’m going to buzz
off now with an invitation for a warm welcome to the studio if
you’re in the area. Open 10-4 except for Mon/Thurs and 6-8
tonight and next Friday.
